Fue una
fructífera jornada vía web que en más de 2 horas permitió debatir sobre el
tratamiento en temas de género y la responsabilidad que cada persona, organización,
institución y en especial los medios de comunicación tienen al momento de
presentarlos y tratarlos. Así fue el primer conversatorio organizado por la
Comisión de Género del Consejo Regional El Loa del Colegio de Periodistas de
Chile.
Una treintena
de personas entre periodistas, profesionales de otras ramas, además de
dirigentes y dirigentas sociales fueron parte del encuentro, en el que
conocieron la experiencia de la ex editora de la Estrella del Loa, Elizabeth
Pérez Donoso, en sus 10 años en ese medio cubriendo el área policial y otras
noticias, quien enfatizó que es fundamental el respeto en el tratamiento
adecuado de la información para no re victimizar a una mujer que ya fue
afectada por violencia.
“Es importante
este tipo de instancias para que la gente conozca el tratamiento adecuado en
los temas de género y para que se sepa que se está trabajando para que los
medios de comunicación aborden estos temas de una forma correcta, respetuosa,
que sepan cómo prestar ayuda a las víctimas y los procesos que vienen para los
victimarios”, señaló.
Comisión de
Género
Yantiel Calderón,
presidenta de la Comisión de Género, recordó que el 8 de marzo del año pasado
nacieron como una de las primeras comisiones de regiones en tomar el tema dentro
del Colegio de Periodistas. “Sabemos que tenemos una tremenda responsabilidad,
estamos orgullosos, pues desde nuestra creación estamos conformados por hombres
y mujeres, que buscamos discutir, difundir y poner el tema en la mesa, pues
sólo así se logra una mejor comprensión y manejo, pues no se trata de hombres o
mujeres, se trata de tener dignidad y respeto en el tratamiento de la
información”, destacó.
Por su parte,
la Secretaria General del Colegio de Periodistas de Chile, Roció Alorda, expresó
que “necesitamos entregar conceptos claros sobre lo legal pero también sobre lo
que es la violencia de géneros, sus causas, el contexto general en que se desarrolló
y cómo prevenir. No se puede reproducir violencia simbólica y sobre todo situar
la noticia desde la ética ¿es de interés público esa información? creo que es
la pregunta clave”.
La invitación
al conversatorio fue masiva y en este sentido, Hugo Marambio, presidente del
Consejo Regional El Loa, criticó la falta de participación de autoridades y de
más representantes de medios de comunicación. “Es lamentable que no contemos
con la participación masiva de autoridades, pues el conocer y discutir sobre el
tema enriquece la visión ante cambios en las legislaciones en torno a esta
materia”, indicó.
Pese a ello, este
conversatorio contó con una alta asistencia de representantes del mundo
profesional, social y político. Al respecto, Arturo Bruna señaló que “se
debería hacer una comisión de género desde la Federación de Colegios
Profesionales y así participemos desde diversos gremios y poder construyendo
una mirada de todas las profesiones”.
En tanto,
Angelique Araya, expresó que “la información es valiosa y educativa, por eso se
agradece. Por ello, hay una formación ética y no olvidar, el profesionalismo ya
que el lenguaje crea realidades. Ahí hay una gran responsabilidad”.
La Comisión de
Género del Consejo Regional El Loa seguirá realizando actividades mostrando las
diferencias conceptuales de sexo, género, feminismo, machismo, además de teoría
en cuanto a igualdad, equidad y diversidad, como una forma de establecer
principios básicos de este tema y que sean comprensibles para todos y todas,
siempre apuntando a lograr una responsabilidad compartida en el manejo de la
información.
